1985: Portlanders protest the killing of Lloyd “Tony” Stevenson, 31, who died after a police chokehold in 1985. That incident is explored in Arresting Power, a documentary covering nearly 50 years of police brutality in Portland. The film reaches back to the late ’60s to examine numerous police killings and includes coverage of resistance and protest among members of the community.
